The Highlands Ability Battery ™ (THAB)
Research on natural abilities goes back over 70 years. Research
done by the Highlands Company has consistently shown that
when people are doing work in which they use their natural
abilities, they enjoy the work more and are more successful.
Abilities are what one can do quickly and easily. They control
the way we instinctively learn, communicate, lead, make decisions,
solve problems, and use our mental and creative talents.
The Highlands Ability Battery ™ (THAB) is a tool
that was developed to help you discover your natural
abilities. The information gained enables you to round
out your current picture of your performance and unlock
the potential of ALL of your talents.
One very important way in which THAB differs from other tests
is that it does not measure learned material and it does not
rely on ‘self-report’ questions. Instead, it directly
measures natural abilities via exercises called work samples.
Each work sample is a task to measure one, and only one, specific
ability. By isolating abilities in this manner, THAB often
reveals an individual’s undiscovered talents. There
is no pass fail with this tool or no ideal profile. The results
tell how one naturally works best and what one’s real
talents are.
