The DISC Profile
The DISC profile is an instrument that measures your behavioral
strength in four areas: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and
Compliance (see below for detail). The DISC model was developed
by William Marston, PhD. whose research focused on the behavior
of normal people.
For more than 20 years, the DISC has unlocked the door
to productive communication and relationships for over
four million people worldwide. The model provides extraordinary
insights with 384 different behavioral styles, explained
thoroughly in a 23 page report. Over 40,000 variables
are measured to create the final product.
Key Benefits of the DISC
- The DISC profile presents a plan to help you understand self and others in a specific environment.
- Understanding your behavioral profile is the primary focus but at the same time, you learn about the differences in others and the environment they require for maximum productivity and teamwork.
- It lays a foundation for a common language that enhances communication, without offense or insult.
- The DISC helps identify the strengths and blind spots of the client which enables the coach and client to rapidly develop strategies to improve communication and results.
What are the four quadrants measured by the DISC?
- DOMINANCE: How you respond to problems
and challenges. People that score high in this area are
often direct, decisive, fast paced and task oriented.
- INFLUENCE: Measures how you influence
others to your point of view. People that score high in
this area are usually persuasive, positive, fast-paced and
people oriented.
- STEADINESS AND STRUCTURE: Measures your
teamwork and flexibility. How you respond to the pace of
the environment. People scoring high on this dimension tend
to be stable, systematic, slower-paced, laid back, composed
and people oriented.
- COMPLIANCE and CONSCIENTIOUSNESS: Measures
attention to rules and detail. How you respond to rules
and procedures set by others. People scoring high in this
area are often diplomatic, analytical, slower-paced, and
task oriented.
